THE TORCH BRIGADE LIGHTING THE WAY

TRAINED AND READY - The First Brigade of the Indiana Guard Reserve (IGR) is prepared to assume missions assigned by the IGR Headquarters, whether they be assuming control of an armory whose Indiana Army National Guard unit has been activated or assisting Civil authorities in a local emergency.

The 1st Brigade with Headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana is commanded by COL Jackie Stump.
All males and females, 18-70 years of age and in good health, with no record of felony convictions, are encouraged to contact a member of the 1st Brigade for enlistment or commissioning. We are looking for patriotic Americans who want to provide volunteer service in a military organization of the State of Indiana. "WE ARE HOOSIERS, SERVING HOOSIERS".


The IGR is an all volunteer organization, composed of persons with prior military service who wish to continue to support the military by service to the State of Indiana and their community. Non-prior military service personnel are currently present in the organization and are welcome. Persons desiring information concerning the IGR may contact either of the following: Brigade Commander,  COL Jackie Stump or 2LT Mark Brown.

The 1st Brigade has a "trophy winning" Color Guard that performs in local parades and ceremonies. They conduct military funerals upon request and train in Homeland Defense courses to support County Emergency Management Coordinators throughout northeast Indiana. This brigade was awarded the IGR Superior Unit Award for Training Year 2005.
